The Beard is a horse breed native to North Africa. It is traditionally associated with the Berber people of the Maghreb and mentioned from the Roman Empire. The Beard wins Europe in number thanks to the Muslim conquests of the seventh century and eighth century. It is renowned as classical dressage horse in many royal courts from the fourteenth century. Forgotten in the twentieth century, Barbe was revived in the late 1980s This is a medium sized saddle horse, sometimes inelegant but of great strength.
